I finally got my blog to work!! This is an old post from the other blog I had.
For my close reading I did Williams Readie Pome. I found this poem to be very interesting. When I first read it, I wasn't sure what it was talking about, and then when I read it again I figured it out, well at least what I thought what it was talking about. The first part of it was talking about a drug addiciton, the second part talked about a prostitute and the last part talked about someone who gave up on life, a bum. I wasn't sure if my mind was just "in the gutter" when I was reading it, so I had my roomie read it over, and she got a lot of the same things I did. The one line that stuck out to me was the old-sold. It stuck out, because if you would read the poem in the context I did, it seems so harsh. It's talking about a lady that is getting old, or worn out, so to speak. She is a prostitute and it's not that she is getting too old in age to sell, but it's that she has been so used that no one wants her anymore. At least that is the way I looked at it. I found this poem to be very interseting, because it is very graphic and you can almost feel bad for this lady, but it's a very short poem.
